hard to ignore them because you really do not have anything to pay them

consistent calls are annoying you. Is there anything you can do about
that and get them to stop calling you? Well yes, you can!
According to FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act), there are few certain things that debt collectors
are not allowed to do, like any kind of harassment, abuse and
invasion of privacy etc. You certainly have rights to protest such kind
of malicious activity and even can stop them and can take them to the
court if they continue to have these behaviors.

Debt Collectors are allowed to call you over and over again –
According to FDCPA, the debt collector
cannot disturb your privacy. Repeated telephone calls until you pick up
is against the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act rules.
They cannot call at odd hours –
It
is the law that they can only call you between 8 am and 9 pm (local
hours) in Monday to Saturday and between 1 pm to 5 pm on Sunday. Getting
calls outside of those hours is strictly prohibited.
Note
that, they are not permitted to call you on official holidays. If you
are getting calls at the midnight, you certainly have the rights to
force them to not to do that again.
They cannot threaten you –
If
any debt agent is threatening you and using abusive language and
harassing you, you can protest it. Debt collection companies are not
permitted to do so! If any collection agency’s behavior is such like
that, you can take the matter to the court.
They cannot share your debt info with others –
Debt information is subject to the collection agency
and the creditor; revealing the information about your debt to your
neighbours or someone else is strictly prohibited. They are not allowed
to publish any information about your debts by any means, as they are
instructed to keep your debt problems private.
